Feeling BL♥E! Atlantic Hearts Sketch #37

Goooood Monday morning, crafty friends.
I'm not really feeling blue. Well, maybe just a little. We put two of our sons back to school on the train/plane Saturday, and a tear or two WAS shed...

This week marks a return to"our  regular programming," which means a new sketch from Atlantic Hearts. Here it is:
Intriguing, eh?
Have to admit, this one had me stumped for a while.
Then I decided to define the diagonal panel by leaving it UN-embossed. The colours and sentiment I'll get to in a minute.
I experimented with some new embossing paste, which I dyed with my Pacifica re-inker. Alas, I added WAY TOO MUCH, and it basically looks black.
Embossing paste FAILURE!
So I went back and sponged over my heart stencil with some Pacifica ink; much better.
I also wanted to participate in a BRAND NEW colour challenge, created by my friend Hayley Kew.
Its called "Colour Me...!" and the concept is quite different. This week (first week of the month) is a monochromatic challenge:
Next week there'll be two colours, the next three, and so on.
I used CTMH's PACIFICA as a close match to Island Indigo, using that to colour my stenciled heart, and stamping the outline alphas with the same colour. They were then shaded with corresponding Copic markers.

Soooo, TWO fun challenges for you to check out! Atlantic Hearts sketch challenge runs until next Sunday--check it out HEREColor Me...!'s first weekly challenge ends today, but you can play all month.
Happy crafting,

  3. Cute card! I love the embossing and yay for you! That's a lot of new Verve headed your way!

  4. What a pretty card! I love the sentiment you created and that un-embossed panel was the perfect way to honor that sketch. Thanks for joining us this week at Colour Me...! :)

  5. Super cool card - I love the unembossed diagonal panel and the shading in your colouring. Thanks for joining in the fun of our first challenge over at Colour Me...!

  6. Hi Caroline. I love the design of this card creative ! Your un embossing is a wonderful idea for this sketch. Sounds like a fun challenge.
It's always hard to say goodby to the kids when they go back to school. My son has has his own place now since he graduated . I was always happy for him but I would be lying if I said I didn't have a heavy heart at first. Time made it easier ,he was our baby and the last to leave the nest.

  7. LOOOOOOOVE this card-- love that white background with the blue!!! LOVE the glittered embellishment on the heart:) So sorry you had to say goodbye to your sons as they returned back to school! <3

THANKS so much for stopping by my blog and leaving some love <3 You made my day! HUGS <3

  8. Love the embossing, and how you changed up the failed heart by adding the color. I know your sons miss you as much as you miss them.

  9. This is a great card. love the idea comletely

Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts!
